Warning: Anyone can publish anything on the Internet and the Internet provides the perfect forum for myths to flourish.  We tend to think that if we see a thing in writing it must be true.  How can you separate facts from myths? Consider the information carefully.  Is the source reputable?  For science or health information, is professional or scientific literature cited?  Trust your own experience. If something sounds farfetched, it probably is. Take extreme caution when selecting Internet resources for your research as most sites contain a strong bias and many contain unsubstantiated information. To learn more about choosing reliable sites, consult a web site evaluation tool such as Consider the Source: Evaluating Research Tools, Thinking Critically about World Wide Web Resources, or one of the other Internet guides listed on the bottom of the Library's Search Internet web page.
