- Librarian's
Internet Index (LII)
Anybody can publish
anything
on the web. How can you rapidly find reliable information? The LII
is a classified list of over 10,000 web sites. These sites have been
previewed
by librarians (and if you can't trust a librarian, who can you trust?)
and are regularly updated. Try searching on a few topics, both
broad
and narrow. For example, Enter philosophy
in the textbox, click on Subjects and click on Search.
Over 10 sites are retrieved, among them:
- Philosophy
Pages is a great beginner's reference. It includes a Dictionary
of Philosophical Terms and Names with links to additional websites
such as The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy (see below).
- The Internet
Encyclopedia of Philosophy contains articles from three sources: 1)
original contributions by specialized philosophers around the internet;
2) adaptations of material written by the editors for classroom
purposes;
3) adaptations from public domain sources (typically from two or more
sources
for per article).
