Q. What are eBooks?
A. Electronic versions of printed books!  Shasta College Library's eBook collection is purchased through netLibrary and includes more than 2,600 titles.  These are available at no charge to the College's registered students and staff.  The internet also hosts collections of ebooks, free of charge.  To view a number of these collections, click on more ebooks.

Q. How do I use eBooks from home?
A.  One must begin by creating an account (with password and user name) WHILE on-campus.

O.  How do I set up an account?
A.  From any campus computer, find an eBook online through the Library Catalog (or go directly to Online eBooks) and click on “Create an Account.”  After creating an account from an on-campus computer, eBooks may be used from any where at any time.

Q.  How do I use or read an eBook?
A.  After deciding to browse an eBook online, read through the table of contents on the left side of the screen to help you choose where to begin. One may also plunge right in and read sections of the book, page by page, using the arrow keys.

Q.  What else should I know about eBooks?
A.  Once a patron account is created, using eBooks is easy.  Here is more helpful information:

Q.  What happens when I am finished reading my eBook?
A.   An eBook is "checked out" only for the period of time one is actively reading online and then "returned"  for the next user at the end of use.  When finished with the eBook, please click on the "Close eBook" button at the top.
