Shasta College Library Online Research Databases contain full text articles about a wealth of topics from  popular and academic  journals and newspapers.
EBSCOHost has  broad coverage and is a great place to start. Begin your search by entering one or two key words to describe your topic.

To broaden a search:
Use * to shorten a word to its root (child* retrieves child, child's, children)
Use OR to collect articles on synonymous terms or related concepts
(festival* or holiday* or celebration*)    (Hmong or Laotian)

To limit a search:
Use AND to collect articles where both ideas must be present
(festival* or holiday* or celebration*) AND Hmong
Internet Resources
Librarians' Index to the Internet is a classified list of hundreds of web sites. These sites have been previewed by librarians (and if you can't trust a librarian, who can you trust?) and are regularly updated.
Try a keyword search on your topic or scroll down to the classification term Cultures (world).

A subject search on "Hmong" retrieved Hmong Homepage [http://www.hmongnet.org/], a collection of resources relating to Hmong history, culture, language, and current events.

A subject search on"Holiday" or "Festival" yields over 50 links.
