Meet Robin Burcell!

Robin Burcell currently works as a Criminal Investigator in Sacramento
County. Prior to that she was a police officer for the city of Lodi for
eighteen years, and was the first female officer hired, which meant
breaking through the barriers and prejudices that went with that title.

She has testified as an expert in the fields of forensic art, fingerprints, and child abuse. A police artist, she first trained under San Jose’s police artist, and later graduated from the forensic artist’s course at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Her drawings have been used to solve a number of crimes in the San Joaquin Valley, including homicides, bank robberies and hate crimes, and she was called upon by the various Valley law enforcement entities, including the FBI, for this skill. She has worked with live witnesses, and the dead, sometimes having to set up shop in a morgue to draw the corpses for identification purposes after they have been found in a state beyond recognition (hence the term forensic artist).

Her past undercover assignments have been as a hooker, a housewife, and a student in a high school (and although this was years ago, she still
retains her youthful looks). She worked patrol and was a hostage negotiator for a number of years. She has also served as a detective investigating sexual assault, child abuse, crimes against property (burglaries, thefts, embezzlements).

Her current book is called Cold Case, the fourth installment in the Kate Gillespie SFPD series, a combination mystery, police-procedural story about the first female homicide inspector for the San Francisco Police department.

Every Move She Makes (Anthony Nominee), Fatal Truth (Anthony Winner) and Deadly Legacy (Anthony Nominee) are the first three books in the series.
